Hello Signoz Team, I recently upgraded to from v0.76.2 to v0.89.0. I'm using standalone Docker setup when running migration-job for clickhouse metrics, I don't get any logs from the container. The container only exits with error code 0.
v
Did you have alerts and dashboards?
m
Hello, Signoz SQLite migration was succesful, and provided output as mentioned in the guide. But the step before that which is for Clickhouse data migration did not provide any log output
v
That should be okay if the exit code is 0.
m
Alright. But after starting Signoz 0.89.0 and checking dashboards I cannot find older metrics data.
v
Have you set
DOT_METRICS_ENABLED
flag?
m
yes
v
And were you running both the exporters for as long as your metrics retention period?
m
No I did not. I asked about this yesterday and developer said this upgrade procedure is ok. Before upgrading to 0.89.0 I was running 0.76.2 which only used the old clickhouse exporter. I upgraded to 0.89.0 and switched to use only the newer one

Hey @Miko Ruotsalainen, we mentioned keeping both exporters running in our pre-requisite for running migrations. We're really sorry that you're unable to access the older metrics data. We have updated the guide with callouts so this doesn't happen again
m
Hello Nagesh, It's alright, I misunderstood. No permanent damage was done, this was done on a testing setup.

Just wanted to avoid running both exporters simultaneously due to increased resource consumption, as I have to minimize costs greatly due to company policies
