I am afraid this has not been documented yet. It helps to show just the values of keys in chart. eg. suppose your promql expression is

http_requests_total{job="prometheus"}

the the legend format

{{job}}

shows just

prometheus

in the legends of the chart and helps in better visualisation when the

expr

can be lengthy and difficult to read
