Hi, We've noticed that the CPU utilization reported by the collector agent on our Windows server is occasionally returning values less than zero. This unexpected behavior has raised concerns about the accuracy and reliability of the data being collected by the agent and inaccurate readings using the Signoz default Hostmetrics Dashboard. Could you please provide guidance on which agent version is recommended for use on Windows Server 2022, we suspect otelcol_0.99.0_windows_386 isn't compatible, to ensure accurate CPU utilization reporting? Additionally, if there are any known issues or fixes related to negative CPU utilization readings, we would greatly appreciate any insights or solutions you can offer. Here are some details about our current setup: We run Signoz self hosted on Linux Agent Operating System: Windows Server 2022 Datacenter Otel Agent Version: otelcol_0.99.0_windows_386.tar.gz

Can you share the panel which shows the negative results and the query used?

We have confirmed that it was the OTEL agent which sent negative values. So the problem is solved.
Sorry for my quick response above. The problem is not solved since we have not found a longterm solution on this. So if you have any insights we would appreciate it. To clarify: the problem applies to Windows VM as previous information above. (The values from Linux VM is correct.) Below is the panel and query for this case:

If the data collected has negative values, we can't do anything about it in SigNoz. It should be fixed in the collector agent only.

Ok. You don´t have any more insights to give, since this is the component that Signoz recommend?

The insight is that the hostmetrics component doesn't seem to produce the correct values. We do not officially support windows but if users want to use we don't prevent but be aware such issues come up in wondows.
